Athletic Training

Welcome to Brigham Young University’s Athletic Training Program (ATP). This program prepares you to become a certified athletic trainer (ATC). Our program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). We are in the teach-out phase of this bachelor's degree program. Accreditation will remain in effect for this program until all current students have graduated.

For information on the new Integrated BS/MAT or standalone Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program, see Graduate Programs on this webpage.

Brigham Young University has received initial accreditation for its new Master of Athletic Training (MAT) degree and is now accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) as of February 2020.

Students must graduate from an accredited program to be eligible to sit for the credentialing examination for athletic trainers (BOC) and to be eligible for licensure in most states.

BYU has one of the earliest-established educational programs in athletic training, and we are proud of our heritage and tradition. It is our goal to be one of the best and most effective athletic training programs in the United States, and the faculty, staff, and athletic training students work together to achieve this goal. We look forward to working with you as you strive to become a competent certified athletic trainer.
