Welcome to Brigham Young University’s Athletic Training Program (ATP). This program prepares you to become a certified athletic trainer (ATC). Our program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). BYU has one of the earliest established educational programs in athletic training, and we are proud of our heritage and tradition. It is our goal to be one of the best and most effective athletic training programs in the United States, and the faculty, staff, and athletic training students work together to achieve this goal. We look forward to working with you as you strive to become a competent certified athletic trainer.
Brigham Young University is currently seeking accreditation for its new Master of Athletic Training (MAT) degree and is not accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The institution will be submitting a self-study to begin the accreditation process on December 1, 2019. Submission of the self-study and completion of a site visit does not guarantee that the program will become accredited. Students that graduate from the program prior to accreditation WILL NOT be eligible to sit for the credentialing examination for athletic trainers and will not be eligible for licensure in most states. An accreditation decision is expected early in Winter 2020.
