In a letter by Francis Crick to his son Michael moments after the discovery of DNA's design, he wrote, "Our structure is very beautiful." While reading this tender and enthusiastic letter on my microbiology study abroad I was reminded of when I was sitting in the MARB for MMBIO 240. Dr. Steve Johnson was discussing DNA's intricacies and I felt a strong spiritual impression that the structure of DNA is divine. That celestial awe continued here in Amsterdam where this illuminated contemporary model of DNA encapsulates the reverent beauty and spiritual enlightenment I have come to treasure at BYU.

This summer, I had to opportunity to learn more about Gods creations In the heart of Alaska’s untamed wilderness. I admired the inherent beauty of the landscape, but I was also touched by the feeling of grandeur that every small detail of each forest displayed. This photograph captures more than just a moment of observation—it reflects a journey of discovery. Through my life science experiences, I've come to see the natural world as a canvas painted with purpose and care. Each organism, from the smallest bacteria to the largest tree plays a part in an interconnected story of life. This deepened understanding has not only enlightened my view of biology, but has also stirred a profound reverence for the Creator's artistry. It reminded me that life itself is a masterpiece. I am excited to continue my journey of learning in the life sciences, and I hope to inspire that same passion in others.

Examining the delicate structure of this fern reminded me of the precision and beauty inherent in all living things. My life science background has shown me that even the smallest organisms are marvels of design—every leaf, vein, and cell intricately connected in a pattern of growth and regeneration. In moments like these, I see God’s work not just in grand landscapes but in the fine details that sustain life, reminding me of His attention to every part of His creation.
